The chart above shows BMW Oracle's losses (to left) or gain (to the right) in seconds, grouped by upwind or downwind leg, and coded by color for each race.  With the exception of the Second Leeward leg of Race 1, which saw an extreme wind shift, USA-98 has gained on all downwind legs of the first 3 races, and lost on all but one upwind leg.  Following a mode change and a re-measurement,  BMW Oracle's downwind gains occurred only 50% of the time, and were much smaller.
