Argo on Atalanta II and at 2008 Paralympics

Argo Challenge is poised to make a splash like no other.

With two-time Olympic Medalist Lars Grael at the helm, a passionate team of disabled and able-bodied sailors will compete in the 2008 Rolex Maxi Challenge aboard International Maxi Association Vice-President Carlo Puri Negri's renamed Farr 70 with a history of winning Mediterranean maxi regattas, showing the world that achieving big goals is possible notwithstanding disability.

Lars Grael: Two-time Olympic Sailing medalist
Paolo Scutellaro: Former AC team manager and trimmer
Umberto Panerai: Olympic Water Polo medalist, AC grinder
Daniele Bonacini: Long jumper
Pierangelo Vignati: Paralympic cycling golden medalist
Loic Touze: Experienced sailor
Francesco De Vita: Former AC sailor
Marco Perazzo: IMS World Championship
Elio Petracchi: World champion in different sailing classes
Domenico Oneto: Former AC shore team

Additional crew:  Francesco Valenza, Paolo Piccione, Armando Cardola, Niky Mosca, Francesco Petracchi, Oscar Mayr, Umberto Orsini, Luca Pittiruti, Pierangela Casarico, Roberto Zorzi, Fabrizio Toselli and Moreno Damonte.

Other Argo team members will be competing at the 2008 Paralympics, which are being held at the same time.  The Argo Challenge crew won the 2006 Les Voiles de Saint Tropez aboard French Kiss and is looking forward to showing all that in sport, as in life, barriers can be overcome with determination, passion, team spirit and professionalism at all times.

"I believe a project like Argo has a sound value both from sport viewpoint and from a social one," says Carlo Puri Negri.

Puri Negri joins Volkswagen Mobility, New Balance, Evolutiva, SixPeople and Sinergia in partnering with Argo on Atalanta II at the Maxi Rolex Cup, September 1-6, 2008.
