Saturday 14th February 2009:
Finals day -- the washing machine of wind direction in Auckland arrives again with that fresh Sou'Wester on Friday swing to SE during Friday evening.  By the morning, it's freshened to 25-27 knots by 7am with 1.2 meter waves as the low tide arrives at 0522 hours.  The breeze will pick up even more during the morning with the RepCast picking gusts over 30 knots at the top of the rigs by 10am.  By 1pm that wind will continue and the waves will grow to 1.3 -- 1.5 meters from wind against tide.

Overhead, there is a good chance of rain showers and the odd squall with the mercury hovering below 20 degrees all morning.   I can't see the wind easing during the day so it's either race really early, postpone for Sunday as the wind is expected to ease a touch (although I still see high energy wind versus tide waveforms in the harbor)
