Chronological Match Race Pairings and Results

The RR4 races were not sailed. INEOS Team UK clinched first place in the standings with their RR3 victory and declined to race the final race against Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli.

Note 1:
In RR3 Races 1 and 3, USA was DNS (Did Not Start) because of damage from RR2 Race 3.

What the Round Robin results mean:
After all the Rounds Robin are complete, the team ranked first advances directly to the Prada Cup Final. The teams ranked second and third meet in the Prada Cup Semi-Final, a best-of-seven (first to four wins) series with the winner advancing to the Final.

So the outcome was that INEOS Team UK proceeded to the Final; Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli and American Magic raced in the Semi-Final.

The Prada Cup Final is a best-of-thirteen (first to seven wins) match. The winner becomes the 36th Challenger for the America's Cup and faces Royal New Zealand YS's defender Emirates Team New Zealand in the America's Cup Match, which is also a best-of-thirteen (first to seven wins) format. Reschedule after American Magic Incident:
As a result of the damage to American Magic's yacht Patriot, they were unable to participate in Rounds 3 and 4. The other two competitors agreed to adjust the schedule for the remaining races, moving their Friday race to Saturday.

As a matter of fairness, the rules required ITA and GBR to actually start their races against the non-sailing USA in order to earn the points for those wins. The Race Director terminated the race after the start. These were the so-called "ghost races."

Tie Breaks:
Any ties in the standings are to be broken by first comparing the head-to-head records of the tied teams, and then the most recent head-to-head match between the tied teams (per the Racing Rules of Sailing for the America's Cup (RRSAC), see Appendix A for details plus additional procedures if necessary).

Completion of the RRs:
Because American Magic was unable to sail after RR2, that left only the two remaining races between GBR and ITA to be decided. If Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli had won both, they would have finished tied on points with GBR and then would have won the tie break.
